Dishwasher removal sounds simple until you try to lift one. A full size dishwasher is narrow, but the tub, the pumps and the base tray make it heavier than it looks, and there is nearly always water left in the sump that runs out if it is tipped. Send a photo of the dishwasher, say which floor it is on, and we reply by email with one fixed price for carrying it out, loading it and disposing of it. You pay that figure once the dishwasher is on the van.

We collect full size and slimline freestanding dishwashers, compact worktop models and integrated dishwashers that are already out of their cabinet slot. An integrated machine can come with the wooden door panel still screwed to the front or with it taken off; either is fine, and the loose panel can go too. If the old washing machine is going at the same time, put both in the photo and one price covers them.

Most dishwashers we collect come out during a kitchen refit, alongside a cooker or oven and the old hob. Once the fitter has pulled the machine out of the run of units, it tends to sit in the hallway or garage with its drain hose trailing until someone takes it. We aim for same-day or next-day collection wherever possible, and a message early in the morning gives you the best chance of a slot that day.

Appliance Removal holds upper tier waste carrier licence CBDU526130 with the Environment Agency, and every dishwasher goes to a licensed waste transfer station or treatment facility. Our guide on what happens to your appliance after collection explains how the metal, plastics and pump motors are separated, and do retailers take old appliances away covers the take-back route if a new dishwasher is on order.

How a dishwasher collection works

  1. Send a photo

Take a picture of the dishwasher wherever it is now and send it with the form on this page. Tell us if it is integrated and whether the door panel is still on.

  2. Get a fixed price

We reply by email with one price for the dishwasher covering carrying, loading and disposal. Slimline and full size machines are each priced from the photo.

  3. Disconnect and drain

Before the day, have it unplugged, the water off at the valve and both hoses off the plumbing. Let it drain and put a towel underneath for drips.

  4. Pay when it is loaded

Two people carry the dishwasher out to the van and load it. You pay the quoted price at that point and nothing extra on top.

Why people use us

A carrier you can check

Look up licence CBDU526130 on the Environment Agency register before you book. It is an upper tier licence, and we can give you a waste transfer note for the dishwasher.

Insured while we carry it

Public liability insurance up to £5 million and employers' liability of £10 million cover the crew while the dishwasher comes through your house.

Water in the sump is expected

After 15+ years and more than 500 jobs, the crew knows a drained dishwasher still holds water. They keep it level from kitchen to van so as little as possible escapes.

Most of it is recycled

A dishwasher is mostly metal and plastic, and 90% of the waste we collect is recycled. A clean machine in working order may go on for reuse where possible.

How a dishwasher comes out of the kitchen

A freestanding dishwasher is carried upright by two people, one at the front and one at the back, with the door shut and latched. Keeping it upright matters, because the sump at the bottom of the tub holds water even after a drain, and laying it on its back sends that water out past the door seal and filter. A slimline machine goes through any internal door easily but has the same pumps and heater inside. An integrated dishwasher with the door panel still fitted is wider at the front and has no top edge to hold, so it is lifted from underneath, and a loose door panel is carried out on its own.

Everything needs doing before the crew arrives, because they lift and carry but do not disconnect anything. Unplug the dishwasher, turn the water off at the valve, take the inlet hose off the valve and unhook the drain hose from the sink waste or standpipe. Let it drain, leave a towel under it for drips, and keep the door ajar until we arrive or wipe the inside so it is not shut up wet. An integrated machine must already be out of the cabinet slot, as the crew will not unscrew it from the worktop or take off the kickboard and fixings. If your dishwasher is still plumbed in or screwed in place, ask your plumber or kitchen fitter to free it first and we collect it once it is out.

After collection the dishwasher goes to a licensed waste transfer station or treatment facility as waste electrical equipment. The casing and any stainless steel tub are recovered as metal, the circulation and drain pumps are taken out for the copper in their motors, and the plastic racks, spray arms and base tray are separated for recycling. A clean dishwasher in working order may be passed on for reuse where possible. We can tell you where yours ended up and provide a waste transfer note.

Dishwasher removal questions

Can you disconnect the dishwasher for me?

No, the crew only lifts, carries and loads. Have it unplugged, the water turned off and both hoses off the plumbing before we arrive. A plumber can help if the connections are stiff or hard to reach behind the units.

There is still water in the bottom. Is that a problem?

No. Almost every dishwasher keeps a little water in the sump after draining, and the crew carries it upright so it stays in the tub. A towel under the machine on the day catches anything that drips from the hoses.

Can you take an integrated dishwasher that is still in the cabinet?

We need it out of the slot first, because the crew will not unscrew it from the worktop or take off the kickboard. Your plumber or kitchen fitter can pull it out, and then we collect it from wherever it is left.

Do I need to take the door panel off an integrated dishwasher?

No, either way is fine. If the wooden panel is still screwed on, it comes with the machine. If it has already been taken off, leave it next to the dishwasher and we take that too.

Will you take a dishwasher that still works?

Yes. A clean, working dishwasher may be passed on for reuse where possible, and otherwise it is recycled at a licensed facility. Either way, you pay the fixed figure we quoted from your photo.

Can you collect the dishwasher with other kitchen appliances?

Yes. If a cooker, washing machine or old hob is going too, send one photo of everything or a few pictures together. We reply with one price for the whole collection.
