Washer dryer removal works like every other job we do. Send a photo of the machine and a line about where it is, and we reply by email with a fixed price for the carrying, the loading and the disposal. Two people bring a van, carry the washer dryer out from the kitchen, the utility room or a flat on any floor, and load it. You pay that price once it is in the van.

A washer dryer is a washing machine with a drying side built in, so it has the same concrete counterweights around the drum plus a heater and fan on top. Expect it to be at least as heavy as a standard washing machine. We collect freestanding models and integrated ones that are already out of the cabinet, of any make and in any condition.

The disconnection points match a washing machine: the power, the cold water supply and the waste pipe. All three need to be off before the crew arrives, because they lift and carry and do not do any plumbing. If you are replacing it with a separate washer and tumble dryer, our guide on whether retailers take old appliances away explains what a shop may or may not do with the old one.

Appliance Removal holds upper tier waste carrier licence CBDU526130 with the Environment Agency, so your washer dryer goes to a licensed facility and nowhere else. We aim for same-day or next-day collection wherever possible, and a message first thing in the morning gives you the best chance of a slot today. Clearing a dishwasher or other kitchen appliances at the same time? Put them in the same photo and they go on one price.

How a washer dryer collection works

  1. Take a picture

Photograph the washer dryer in place and send it to us, or use the form here. Tell us the floor and whether the plumbing is already off.

  2. Get your price

One fixed figure comes back by email, covering the lift, the carry down any stairs, the loading and the disposal.

  3. Agree a time

Say when you are in and we book the crew. Same-day or next-day is offered wherever possible.

  4. Pay once it is in

Two people carry the machine out and load it. Then you pay the quoted price, with nothing added.

Why people use us

A licence you can check

Upper tier waste carrier licence CBDU526130, registered with the Environment Agency. Look it up on the public register before you book.

Insurance in place

£5 million public liability and £10 million employers' liability cover every lift, including a heavy washer dryer on a staircase.

Two people, every time

With 15+ years of experience and 500+ jobs behind us, we never send one person for a machine this heavy.

Recycled, not dumped

90% of the waste we collect is recycled, and a combined machine gives up a good deal of steel, copper and plastic.

How a washer dryer comes out of the house

A washer dryer has the same awkward balance as a washing machine: concrete weights low around the drum and a heavy motor underneath, with the drying parts adding a little more on top. Two people carry it upright and level, one taking the front edge and one the back, and they never walk or rock it across your floor. On stairs the crew takes it one step at a time with the weight kept low. In a flat with a lift it comes down in the lift, and without one it comes down the stairs in just the same way.

Before we come, have it unplugged, the water turned off at the valve, the inlet hose off and the waste pipe out of the standpipe or trap. Still plumbed in? Ask your plumber to free it first and we collect the washer dryer as soon as it is. A washer dryer holds water in the drum and the sump just like a washing machine, so drain what you can and leave a towel on the floor by the door. Wipe the door seal or leave the door ajar so it is not shut in wet. An integrated model must already be out of its cabinet slot, as the crew will not unscrew decor panels or fitted units. There is no need to put the transit bolts back.

Once collected, the washer dryer is taken to a licensed waste transfer station or treatment facility. It is stripped and shredded there: the concrete counterweights are separated, the drum, casing and frame go for steel recovery, copper comes out of the motor, heater and cables, and plastics are sorted. A machine that still works well may be passed on for reuse where possible. Ask and we can tell you where it went and send a waste transfer note.

Washer dryer removal questions

Is a washer dryer heavier than a washing machine?

Usually it weighs about the same or a little more, because it has the same concrete counterweights plus the drying parts. Either way we send two people, and the price from your photo already allows for it.

What needs disconnecting before collection?

The plug, the water supply and the waste pipe, exactly as on a washing machine. Our crew does not touch plumbing, so book your plumber if it is still connected and we come once it is free.

Can you take an integrated washer dryer?

Yes, once it is out of the kitchen cabinet and disconnected. The crew will not take off the decor door or unscrew the unit, so have your fitter or plumber pull it out first. Then send a photo of it standing free.

What should I do about the water left inside?

Some water always stays in the drum and the sump. Drain off what you can, leave a towel by the door for drips and wipe out the seal or leave the door ajar. The crew keeps the machine upright so very little escapes on the way out.

Does it matter if the drying side has stopped working?

No. Plenty of washer dryers still wash but no longer dry, and some have stopped doing both. Working or not, the machine is priced from your photo in the same way.

Can I add other appliances to the same collection?

Yes. Put the washer dryer and anything else that is going, such as a dishwasher, in one photo or a few pictures sent together. We reply with one price for the lot and take it all in one visit.
